Carnegie Public Relations Ltd, the public relations
business owned by David Murray’s Murray International
Holdings group, has been sold to the company’s senior
management following an agreed management buyout, announced
today (26 May, 2000).
The Edinburgh based business, to be renamed Atlantic Public
Relations Limited, has increased its fee income by 150% in the
last four years. The consultancy will continue to provide corporate
public relations services to a client base which includes KLM
uk, Genesis Communications, Frazier International, Scottish
Enterprise, Harley-Davidson, Scotmid and St Andrews Bay golf
resort.
Murray International Holdings will retain 15% of Atlantic Public
Relations with the company’s senior management team –
Malcolm Brown and David Southern - owning 85% of equity.
Malcolm Brown, managing director, Atlantic Public Relations,
stated, “We have demonstrated annual income growth of
more than 20 percent for the last three years. We are benefiting
from the fact that good corporate PR is a scarce commodity and
there are very few PR businesses providing the professional
levels of service that are demanded by Scotland’s leading
companies. We are confident that by securing this buy-out we
will capitalise on the business opportunities that presently
exist.”
David Murray, chairman, Murray International Holdings, said,
“Carnegie Public Relations has demonstrated that it is
a well run and highly credible business. It was clear to me
that the senior management team has developed a strategy that
will lead to significant benefits for the company and its clients.
I fully support this initiative and I am personally delighted
that we will be carrying forward an investment of 15 percent
in the business.”
Carnegie Public Relations has been recognised at the highest
level in the UK public relations industry having achieved several
quality awards from the Institute of Public Relations and industry
magazine PR Week.
