MURRAY EXPANDS MARKETING BUSINESS

Carnegie Group

4 February 2000
Carnegie Group
Murray International Holdings, the metals, property, mining and marketing group owned by David Murray, has expanded its marketing interests with the creation of two new businesses.

Carnegie Information Systems Ltd and Carnegie Management Ltd will complement existing businesses in Carnegie Marketing Group and expand its global reach. The marketing group is the leading marketing and events business in Scotland and covers sectors such as sponsorship, public relations, call centres, hospitality, signage and celebrity management.

Carnegie Management Ltd will create commercial opportunities by developing joint ventures with sports organisations including golf properties. The company, headed by former Gleneagles Golf Developments director of operations Tom Younger, will also lease manage golf clubs and tournaments worldwide.

Tom Younger, managing director, Carnegie Management Ltd, said, “As part of the Carnegie Marketing Group, we expect to forge relationships with a number of golf operators and club owners worldwide. We are currently in discussion with property owners in countries including Greece and Spain and we expect to expand our activities to the States in the near future.”

CMG will also extend its services to the sport and entertainment industry with the launch of Carnegie Information Systems Ltd (CIS). The business will specialise in delivering fully integrated CRM (customer relationship management) and expects to build a client base in the UK and mainland Europe.

James McGlynn, managing director of Carnegie Information Systems, said, “The company was borne out of the need to re-engineer the business process within Rangers Football Club. One of our principle objectives is creating a system whereby sports and entertainment organisations can service as many customer requests as possible at first point of contact.”

Carnegie Marketing Group’s UK headquarters are in Edinburgh. The company owns nine marketing businesses – Carnegie Sports Marketing, Carnegie Public Relations, Carnegie Hospitality, RESPONSE (Call Centres), Sign Workshop, Carnegie Sports International (NZ), Parallel Murray Management (golf agents), Carnegie Information Systems and Carnegie Management.
