MURRAY INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES NEW MARKETING GROUP STRUCTURE

Carnegie Group

15 November 1999
Carnegie Group
Murray International Holdings (MIH), the business owned by David Murray, has stated its intention to develop its marketing interests following a restructuring of the Group’s core activities.

David D Murray, son of the Rangers chairman, and Jim MacDonald, the managing director of MIH, will direct Carnegie Marketing Group (CMG).

The marketing group has reshaped its business divisions to form new limited companies – RESPONSE, Carnegie Public Relations, Carnegie Hospitality, Carnegie Sports Marketing, Sign Workshop, Carnegie Sports International (NZ) and Parallel Murray Management.

CMG also announced the formation of Carnegie Information Systems Ltd (CIS) - a technology business designed to meet the increasing demand from sports clubs for fast, accurate and direct communication with customers. CIS was awarded its first contract by Dunfermline Football Club earlier this month.

David D Murray, explained, “The restructuring of Carnegie will allow us to exploit the gap in the market for a more focussed outsource consultancy group. It is clear that there are significant opportunities for a group such as ours to provide a comprehensive marketing service to the UK’s top companies.

“While sport has always played an important part in our development, up to seventy percent of our turnover is generated through non sports activity. For example, we manage specialist marketing services such as public relations for KLMuk, call centre management for low cost airline ‘buzz’, corporate signage for Honda, and hospitality for some of the UK’s leading legal and accountancy businesses.”

Carnegie Marketing Group is expected to have an annual turnover of £10 million in its first full year of operation and employs 500 people across eight businesses.

David D Murray, continued, “The restructure of the Group has allowed individual components of Carnegie to develop their own identities. It also allows us to be client-led both as individual companies and as a full marketing services group.”
