Jim MacDonald, the Group Managing Director of
Murray International Holdings Limited (“MIH”) announced
today that he will be retiring from his day to day executive
role within the Group and will become a non-executive director
of MIH, the Group’s parent company, alongside Sir Angus
Grossart. Mr MacDonald will also continue as a non-executive
director on the board of The Rangers Football Club plc. He will
assist both MIH and Rangers with individual projects for the
foreseeable future.
Commenting on the move, Mr MacDonald stated, “I have tremendous
personal regard for David Murray whom I have known for some
28 years. The last 23 years of our working relationship has
been extremely challenging and exciting and the Group is in
excellent shape for the future. I have decided that after such
a period of time working for the Group it is time to reassess
my own personal objectives. I am delighted with the management
team that I have been developing over the past 5 years and feel
it is now appropriate to hand greater responsibility over to
my colleagues as the Group develops in the new Millennium. I
will continue to work closely with the Murray team on a consulting
basis and will be able to devote more time to myself, my family
and other interests.”
David Murray, chairman of MIH, commented, “Jim has been
my right hand man almost since I started in business and I thank
him for the immense contribution that he has made to the success
of the Group. I recognise that Jim now feels it is appropriate
to reduce his work commitments but look forward to continued
support from him in our new business relationship. I will be
taking over responsibility for the Group Chief Executive role
and will be announcing a new Group management structure in due
course."
